Who should deliver sedation?

Over many decades dentists have, with a high degree of safety, been able to provide their own anaesthesia/sedation within their own practice for their colleague’s treatments. The modern era has allowed perspectives to move on. General anaesthesia is now no longer permitted outside of the hospital environment and whilst dentists are still licensed to provide sedation for their patients, all health care professionals are becoming more and more specialised.

We believe that dentist’s time is most effectively spent on delivering the complexities of modern dentistry. We believe that the presence of a consultant anaesthetist with the appropriate specialty skills in sedation can add to a smooth and relaxed treatment course for your patients. This specialised presence can potentially increase patient throughput and will allow you to focus your professional efforts in the practice of dental surgery.
